Graduate Spotlight: C.K. Linn — Personal Success Comes from Personal Support

By Brandon Swenson June 9, 2022

C.K. Linn, recent graduate of University of Arkansas Grantham’s online MBA program, took a minute to reflect on her time with UA Grantham. From the beginning, there were several things that reassured C.K. that coming to UA Grantham was the right move to make:

UA Grantham is a military friendly online school, had the online degree program I needed, and was cost effective. I spoke with an admissions representative who was very detailed and helpful, which was a good sign from the start.

Tell us about your UA Grantham experience.
I have had some really great instructors, but two really stuck out because of their willingness to help me be successful in my learning journey. One of which mentored me and helped me to create a plan for achieving my goals in life.

Plus, UA Grantham was very flexible and willing to work with me. I have so many things I feel I can achieve now. I feel like I can do anything.

The UA Grantham difference.
My student advisor, Christina, was there to answer questions and give guidance when I needed her. She respected my boundaries, while continuing to check in with me. It felt like the perfect communication exchange with her. Some of my instructors were understanding of my situations and provided guidance on how I can improve upon my work. One particular instructor helped me map out some life goals and how to achieve them. He really gave me great advice.

How do you plan to use your degree?
It's insane how much has changed during these last two years. I can expand my business with the knowledge I learned. I also just received a job offer within my field of study. I feel confident that I want to become an instructor like the one who mentored me. I had never thought about teaching before, and now I feel like I have the knowledge and ability to help and teach others.

What insights would you like to share with prospective students?
My only regret is that I went to another university for undergraduate courses. I didn't have much support there with my student advisor changing every few months. I never knew who I could consult.

There was also no flexibility for life-changing events. I went through cancer and the loss of my younger brother but was not afforded time off without having to withdraw from school. My grades and mental health suffered. With UA Grantham, I lost my father last year and moved abroad, among other serious personal events, and was able to take time off for a session. My student advisor, Christina, was of great support with the process. I finished my program with a 3.83 GPA!
