UA Grantham 101: Mission and Vision

You might already know that University of Arkansas Grantham was founded by a veteran for veterans. Or that we’re committed to serving students through 100% online degree programs. You probably also know that we believe in the power of education when it comes to transforming lives.

These, after all, are the primary forces that help drive what we do every day. But they’re not the only things we stand for. At UA Grantham, our mission and vision help inform our programs, support our students, and create an environment for success.

UA Grantham on a Mission

For more than 70 years, UA Grantham has been on a mission to do more for our students. Specifically, we’re on a mission to provide quality, accessible, affordable, professionally relevant programs in a continuously changing global society.

The world is changing, and it’s changing fast. You have to be ready to keep up! One of the best things you can do to prepare for success is to invest in your education. It’s not only a chance to learn what you need to know now—whether you’re hoping for what's next or to get ahead on your current path—but a way to promote lifelong learning. Continuing education can help you continue building success no matter what’s going on in the world.

How can you keep up with an education when you already have a life to live? UA Grantham has designed our programs specifically for adult learners because we know that our adult students often have plenty on their plates already. Work duties, military service, family responsibilities, and other obligations—it’s a lot to juggle. But that shouldn’t stop you from changing your life with a degree.

John Koehler, Senior Marketing Specialist at UA Grantham says, “Pursuing continued education and further developing your skills during these trying times can give you the edge to be more valuable and relevant to employers coming out of the pandemic.”

Our programs and support services are offered in an online format so that you can access all your course materials and class assignments—as well as the The Learning Center, the Career Services team — when you need them, no matter where you are in the world.

That doesn’t mean, however, that you’ll be paying premium prices. UA Grantham is just as committed to affordability as we are to the quality and accessibility of our programs. That’s why we offer one of the lowest tuition rates1 in the nation and our promotion of a No-Cost laptop when you start classes this summer. We also provide the option to transfer credits for qualifying past education experiences and a special rate for military, veterans, and first responders, as well as their families.

A Vision for Service

We believe in making a difference in the world, and it is our particular honor to serve those who serve. For 70 years, we have been committed to providing distance education for active duty and veteran servicemembers—and we look forward to doing so for the next seventy years!

Our vision statement affirms that dedication to service: University of Arkansas Grantham is committed to being a globally recognized innovator in higher education, serving those who serve and serving those who strive to make a difference in their professional lives and community.

Military servicemembers, first responders, and patient care workers keep our country safe, putting their own health and safety on the line to protect their communities. They are the true heroes, and it’s an honor to help them access a quality online education with our unique Heroes Program.

With a special lower tuition rate for both undergraduate and graduate programs, complimentary textbooks and software, and a waiver for technology fees, eligible students can pursue and earn a UA Grantham degree in less time and at a lower cost. That goes for families, too: Spouses, parents, and children also make sacrifices when you’re serving in the military or as a first responder, and UA Grantham is dedicated to investing in their futures too.

Lindsey Streeter, UA Grantham Board of Governor in 2021 member says, “I believe UA Grantham has done a great job in ensuring that the original vision of Donald Grantham has maintained its course. This school was founded by a veteran for veterans, and so it remains committed to assessing the true needs, struggles, and obstacles that military students face. And that means adapting their processes and models to serve veterans where they need it most.”

You’re making a difference in the world. The least we could do is a make a difference for you.
