Student Testimonials
... Spending three years going to a community college and still feeling like you are getting nowhere is what made me transfer to the University of Arkansas Grantham. This has been an amazing experience for me and to be able to obtain my degree is a big achievement. With my kids being my biggest motivation behind me passing each and every class to take a step in the right direction to better my future for them.De'Naria G., AAS in Healthcare Administration
At the age of 35, I started my journey two and a half years ago, with dreams of completing my Bachelor of Science in Accounting. As a single mother living in a state far from my family, it was really tough and there was times I didn't think it would be possible! While I was working on my degree, I was also working two jobs, and for about 8 months I picked up another side job. Getting my degree was the top priority, and my son James was more than supportive and understanding. I'm overwhelmed with emotions that I accomplished it and my family and my son are extremely proud of me.Amy J., BS in Accounting
Balancing the demands of being a Soldier, as well as a father, husband, along with school, has tested my resilience in every way. As a black young man from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, I faced unique challenges, but the thought of bettering myself to provide for my family fueled my determination to complete. The support of my family and the wise words of my mentor kept me going. “Your education is a legacy—claim it.” That advice became my mantra during the toughest times. Earning this degree is not just a milestone; it’s a testament to resilience, discipline, and the power of community.LEE M., BBA in Business Administration - Human Resource Management Concentration
Attending school and being an active duty soldier is extremely hard. It’s a balance with family, as well. This triangle has allowed me to navigate to a degree and expand my educational path which I not only benefit from it, but my family as well as my military career. This has been a journey and not one that stops here and I plan to continue with UA Grantham for a BBA in logistics and supply chain management.Daniel L., AA in Criminal Justice
I am a retired Army Veteran, that didn't think I had what it takes to complete my degree. Now look at me. Long days and hours but by the grace of God I made it.Edward B., BBA in Business Administration - Logistics and Supply Chain Management Concentration
I appreciate the hard work, and the challenges throughout this Journey. Although this was very challenging, in the end, it was very rewarding.Edgardo S., MBA in Master of Business Administration
I came into this program with an open mind but I was very nervous and anxious at first. I had already tried to make it with getting a degree and didn’t really have the right support or motivation to get me there. With the help at UA Grantham, I was able to successfully complete my courses and now I’m GRADUATING! I had the best support system with the instructors and academic advisors and couldn’t have asked for any better! My kids and my husband all pushed me to get through everything and motivated me everyday to get up and do better than the next and it’s paid off tremendously!Faith C., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I have been pursuing my BA in business for awhile. When I started my journey at UA Grantham, it was hard. I lost my mother the first semester and I struggled. But I knew that my mom would want me to finish strong. Her memory has kept me going and I wanted to make her proud!Yolanda B., BBA in Business Administration - Financial Planning Concentration
I registered for a program in 2019 but due to some circumstances, I was not able to start. In 2023, I decided to pursue a master's degree again, but changed my course this time. As I was about to start the program, I lost my mom about 2 days before the start day. It was very devastating but I was determined to pull through. I put in my best throughout because it was hard to keep up with the deadlines sometimes, given that I work and take care of 4 kids. I gave myself a lot of encouragement that I GOT THIS! Determined to complete the race!Bolanle T., MS in Information Management - Project Management
I want to say thank you to my family and student advisors for always believing in me. This has been a great journey and I have finally accomplished a long time goal of mine. There were many ups and downs and life tried to get me down but I prevailed against them all.Jennifer W., BS in Health Information Management
I want to share this academic achievement with my wife for all the support you have provided me throughout this journey. My kids for giving me the vision to impart on each one of you the ability to achieve, my brother for his inspiration in what is possible!Sergio P., MS in Leadership
I was able to finally conquer my goal of completing my Master's in Business Administration thanks to the flexibility of this school's online program, as well as the financial support they provide through their Heroes Program. I now have helped my wife start working on her Bachelor's with this school due to the positive experience I had. I also want to give a shoutout for the support they gave me while being in Guam with the technical challenges it presented including the hardships we experienced during Typhoon Mawar last year that left us without power for weeks. Will highly recommend this university to others in the future who want to go back to school.Shaun W., BBA in Business Administration
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2018 with symptoms of left side weakness, brain fog, loss of memory, & more. Some of my co-workers were taking online courses, I wanted to very badly but due to my MS I was scared I would fail. Six years later, after much encouragement from family & friends at the clinic I began Grantham. I was scared I wouldn't understand or couldn't pass my classes, but they had faith & I had the drive to push through it & give it my best shot. I've had GREAT instructors & fellow classmates throughout the courses. Ms. Chappell was very supportive & whether she knows it or not, kept me going some days. I worked through a lot of pain & MS flare ups but I'm VERY proud to be where I am now. I CAN DO IT!!Christi H., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
I was never able to finished college when I was younger because it was hard being a single mother and working full time without any help. After I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, I was determined to fight and to never give up. I have been cancer free for nearly six years now and always wanted to finish college. In the beginning, I had wanted to dropout again but my fiancè had motivated me to finish. It was hard achieving this goal while working six and seven days weekly but I did it, not only once but twice. I am now a CMAA and CBCS graduate. I'm proud to say that I am a fighter and it's never too late to achieving an education!Latoyia J., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
I was on the fence about starting school, I was not sure if I wanted to something so big and was scared I was not going to be able to do this. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to do it. I am so glad that I did it this way and not something that would be quick and easy and not too sure if they were the real deal. Everyone I encountered was amazing and helpful, and encouraging.Kimberly R., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I would like to thank my wife for being patient as I spent many nights completing my school tasks even though she needed me to do something. She would wait patiently until I was free to take care of it.Hubert C., BS in Engineering Management Technology
It has been a long rough road for me while enrolled. I have been sick and had lots of death in the family. My student advisor Scott Robinson has helped me push through with words of wisdom and his always checking on me and letting me know that I got this! If it weren't for him pushing me, I may not have finished my degree.Cadelia K., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
It's been a challenge returning to college at 40 with a college aged daughter and a disabled husband. I work full-time as well and I can already see improvement in my career. It's really exciting to me that both myself and my daughter are graduating with Associates in December.Sabrina G., AAS in Healthcare Administration
My daughter pushes me everyday to reach my goal so we can have a better life, and she always sees the best in me. She always tells me that I got this. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be where I am today.Breana D., AA in Criminal Justice
My motivation to complete my education stems from my two children and the unwavering support of my mother, nieces, and sister. They have instilled in me the belief that I can achieve anything. Additionally, UA Grantham has been an invaluable partner throughout this journey, providing guidance and encouragement. Thanks to their support, I am on the verge of earning my master’s degree, and I now recognize my worth and capability to succeed.Ewa M., BBA in Business Administration - Logistics and Supply Chain Management Concentration
Reaching my degree has been an incredible journey shaped by significant challenges. Over eight years, I faced financial hardships that forced me to move between universities and drop out multiple times after earning my associate degree. With financial aid often unavailable, I worked tirelessly to save money for my education. Each setback strengthened my resolve, driven by the belief that a degree was crucial for a better future. My parents' unwavering support kept me motivated, reminding me that perseverance would pay off. As I prepare to graduate, I feel immense pride in overcoming adversity. This achievement embodies my hard work and resilience, inspiring me to encourage others facing similar struggles. I’m excited for what lies ahead!Faris S., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
This accomplishment would not be possible without the support of my wife, Margarita. She has been my rock throughout my academic journey and I can never thank her enough for it.Carlos B., MBA in Business Administration - Project Management
This degree has come a long way, and it has not been easy. All I can say is that until we experience adversity and think "beyond the box," we will never truly know what we are capable of. We wouldn't be aware of our character unless we confronted those awkward situations head-on.Jose H., BA in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration on Homeland Security
This has been a long, stressful, eventful, and proud journey! I started off just getting a certification, then I really liked the University and decided I wanted to go a little further and got another certification. I then stopped school for a while and decided to go back to get an actual degree since none of my mother's children had one, I wanted to make us both proud! I am 34 years old, balancing 2 jobs, kids, and everything else, but UAG made this possible for me! I am so thankful for this opportunity, and this is one heck of an achievement for me and my family! Thank you to all the staff and the University! Go UAG!Ashley S., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
This was a huge piece of a broken puzzle I strongly had to build. It was a big adventure for me, but I finished it. There was lots of ups and downs but I made it to the finished line. I achieved my goals. My kids pushed me to the finished line.Carmen T., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
When I first started Grantham, it was in 2018 and I was in nursing school. However, I decided it was not for me and changed my major and I decided to quit that one, as well. So from there, in 2021, I decided to start over and get a certificate in human resources and from there I received my associate in criminal justice in 2023 and now I am in the process of receiving my bachelor’s for strategic communications and I want to do my bachelor’s for criminal justice. Grantham has truly helped me.Shanice T., BA in Strategic Communications
When I was contemplating returning to school to obtain my Master's degree, I wondered if I was too old to take on this task. I am a dedicated employee, a mother, and a grandmother and was worried about taking on too much. However. this experience has been amazing. It helped me sharpen my entrepreneurial skills, become a better employee, and ultimately grow into a more well-rounded individual.Ermmias T., MBA in Business Administration - Information Management
As someone who likes to write a lot, I have too much to say. Lets just say I have lost a lot along the way, but now I am done. I hope this gamer-like, tunnel-vision persistent dedication remains, because I would like to be a somewhat known name for foolishly believing that I am not meant to be part of a pre-designed paradigm, and my foolish believes got me far.Stefyn W., BS in Computer Science
Completing my program was a huge milestone for me. Being a mother, wife, and grandmother to 25 grand children, it was like juggling balls like a clown. All my professors were amazing. However my student advisor Anna Jacobs was just absolutely wonderful always there to help me and call me and email me. She never got upset with the many times I had to email her. She was a big help in my journey .Rhonda R., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing

First, I am extremely proud of myself for this accomplishment. I started this journey in 2009 as a young parent of four children, trying to find my way, and looking for a better opportunity. Fast forward to now, 15 years later, and four adult children, and 1 grandchild later, I can finally celebrate that I have completed the very task I set out to do, finishing my bachelor's degree. I sit back and remember the same day I started this journey, and to now see how far I have come is a blessing.Geneva V., BS in Health Information Management
I am an independent mother of six who was dedicated to obtaining an associate’s degree in the medical field. I love helping people. I have a big heart until you cross me. This has been a long journey. I must admit a few times I wanted to give up and throw in the towel with my daughter being hit by a car while she was walking to school and the driver kept going. Then not even two months later I lost my mom. I felt like I was being attacked but I have a dedicated support system my kids kept me going pushing me to not give up. I wanted to become something more than just what people thought I would be - a retail worker. I wanted to show everyone around me that no matter what you can still get a degree. I dropped out of high school in the 11th grade, certain high ranked staff at the school said I would never amount to anything, yet here I am. I've made honor list every single time. I guess the joke is on them.Christy T., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing

As a single mother, I faced financial struggles and decided to go back to school. Enrolling in my degree program was a milestone, but soon after, my mother fell ill, and I became her primary caregiver. During this time, I also became homeless. Despite these challenges, I persevered with the support of the school staff, who provided both academic and emotional assistance. Their encouragement helped me stay on track, and I ultimately completed my degree. This journey taught me the importance of resilience and the power of a supportive community.Maria L., AS in Computer Science
Completing my degree while working full time and raising a family was tough. My greatest thanks go to my family for their unwavering support and encouragement. Grantham University has been beneficial academically and professionally. I took one class every semester while juggling a rigorous military job. I am a mom of four young boys. They are all in sports and I have been able to do my schoolwork and be there for them. Julie Traylor has proven to be an outstanding advisor. Her consistent efforts to check in on my well-being and ask about the progress of my classes have not gone unnoticed. I wanted to show my family that no matter your age, status, or obstacles, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. There were many moments when I felt like giving up, as I was not the same woman I was before my brain surgeries. The physical and emotional toll was immense. I blocked out the noise of doubt, fear, and anxiety, and focused on my goal with unwavering determination. Despite the odds, I maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my degree plan. This achievement is a testament to the power of resilience and the human spirit. If I can do this, anyone can. My journey is a reminder that with determination, hard work, and a positive mindset, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve your dreams.Christina C., BBA in Business Administration
I was a mediocre student - at best - in high school. I have never really been a student who simply loves class. I love to learn but not in a structured environment. This was not my first attempt at furthering my education. I tried onsite learning and it simply was not for me. Now, as a single mother, I felt the need to lead by example and get a degree. The hours were long and scheduling sometimes felt impossible. With two children in extracurricular activities, on top of the regular schedule of a working mother, adding a course load seemed quite daunting. I am so glad I did it! My children and God push me to be my best and now I have a degree with honors so show my dedication to myself and them.Synthia T., BBA in Business Administration - Logistics and Supply Chain Management Concentration
I went to college immediately after graduating high school. My freshman year I got pregnant with my son and completed a few online courses before deciding to give up. When I had my daughter at 26 years old, I thought that achieving a bachelors degree seemed impossible. When Covid hit, I was 29 years old and decided to enroll in part-time classes. I am now 33 years old and proud to say that I will be receiving my bachelors degree in criminal justice. As a single mom, I was able to show my kids that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible!Sara D., BA in Criminal Justice
It is crazy how I am now finished with college! I currently have an Associate Degree, but I am really excited to have my Bachelors Degree because it is an even higher accomplishment! I can't wait to go out into the world and use my degrees! Thank you Grantham!Rocio C., BS in Information Technology
Over two years ago I embarked on an incredible journey to go back to school thanks to my boss talking me into it Balancing a full-time job with my academic pursuits was a challenge that came with its own set of obstacles, it provided me with invaluable lessons in time management, discipline, and personal growth. There were times that I wanted to quit because I was so exhausted, but through perseverance and an unwavering commitment to my academic goals, I became stronger and more confident. This experience not only helped me achieve my academic objectives but also equipped me with skills and resilience that I will carry into my future endeavors as a leader.Demetria B., MS in Leadership
Some of the hurdles I encountered in this journey centered around my age as a learner. First, I had to orient to becoming a formal learner. It had been over 30 years since my previous experiences learning. The most difficult class for me was calculus. I continually sought ways to relate what was being taught to future applications of it with relationship to engineering practices. This helped me maintain interest and dig deeper into the intent of the course. Second, balancing the requirements of a college education with adult life responsibilities meant developing a habitual pattern involving time set aside to focus on school and time set aside to focus on family/life. Overall, I had a challenging and meaningful experience at GranthamPatrick L., BS in Electronic Engineering Technology
Thank you for all of your patience, and motivation, to help me through this. I am so happy that I have found this school and can achieve this next step in my career. Thank you for all your help along the way I look forward to getting my degree next. Student Testimonials
Completing my degree program has been an incredible journey of perseverance and resilience. Balancing my roles at work, as well as wife, mother, and student wasn't easy, but the unwavering support of my husband made all the difference. My mother and children were constant sources of motivation, inspiring me to push through every challenge. My dedicated co-workers provided invaluable support, allowing me to focus on my studies. Their belief in me, combined with sage advice and encouragement, empowered me to achieve my academic goals and reach this milestone.Diana W., BBA in Business Administration
Completing my degree was a significant milestone. I faced immense challenges, including losing my father, wife, home, and job. During a trip to Ghana, internet disruptions prevented me from submitting assignments, leading to my temporary drop from the program. Despite these setbacks, I paid out of pocket to re-enroll upon returning to the US. Staying focused and persistent, I overcame these obstacles, proving the power of resilience. Thank you to all who believed in me.Joe A., BS in Computer Engineering Technology
Completing my Master's Degree in Performance Improvement has been a significant milestone, demanding dedication and resilience. Relocating from Georgia to Lawton, Oklahoma, due to my husband's permanent change of station, was a major challenge. Balancing my studies with the responsibilities of being a supportive spouse required adaptability and focus. My parents' unwavering support and encouragement were crucial. Their advice, No matter how challenging the journey, keep your eyes on the goal, became my mantra. My aspiration to start a career in human resources kept me motivated. Despite the challenges, my determination to succeed and the support of my family helped me achieve my academic goals.Julia S., MS in Performance Improvement
During COVID I decided to go back to school so I could obtain the CFP designation to further my career as a Financial Advisor. It was very difficult to juggle full-time work, full-time school, as well as an insurance licensing exam, family duties, continuing education for all of my financial licenses, and more for 3 1/2 years without any breaks. I am so excited now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and so glad I took the leap and enrolled.Christine D., BBA in Financial Planning
I re-enrolled in 2021, as both my children and I were a little more mature. I took better care not to overextend myself and know my limits.I began my degree program with Grantham in 2014, during a hectic time in my life. My wife & I had a son who was born three months premature. I was working a lot of overtime on nights. We had a daughter who was 5 years old at the time, so life was pretty busy. My mother fell ill in 2015, and unexpectedly passed. I lost my drive and was withdrawn from the degree program. I reenrolled in 2021, as both my children and I were a little more mature. I took better care not to overextend myself and know my limits. My wife has always set me straight when I got discouraged. I would like to thank Mark, Bill, & Alec at Grantham University for all their wisdom and support to cross the finish line.Ryan W., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration
I decided to return to school because I was having trouble finding a career I liked. I went through Grantham for my certificate in medical billing and coding then continued into my associate's degree in medical billing and coding and then onto my bachelor's degree. During my associate's degree, I almost lost my husband to a wreck he was in the hospital for weeks and we did not think he was going to make it, but I made sure to get all my assignments turned in on time and still was able to be there for him when he returned home and finally recovered. Thanks to the staff of Grantham and their understanding.Mary D., BS in Health Information Management
I's never too late to finish college and I will be so proud to have my diploma.I started in March of 2023. I had 75 previous credits toward my BA in Criminal Justice. Through UA Grantham I completed 15 classes. I did all that while working 40+ hours a week and raising two teenagers, with my wife's help of course! I was 44 years old when I enrolled and I will be 46 when I graduate. It's never too late to finish college and I will be so proud to have my diploma.Travis S., BA in Criminal Justice

In my first year doing high school competitive robotics, I had to say that I learned more in less time than any other subject area. It's crazy how our children can teach us the most crucial lessons. My youngest kid graduated from high school in 2021 and immediately began college. He challenged me to finish what I started since I always told them it was vital, and I couldn't allow him to beat me to getting a degree. That resonated with me, and I enrolled at eVersity at the time, earning my Associates in Criminal Justice. I was on a roll, so I kept going and earned my Bachelor's degree in criminal justice at UA Grantham. I was still in beast mode, so I chose to pursue my Master's degree in Healthcare Administration. I'll be graduating in a few weeks.Tamika N., MHA in Healthcare Administration

My journey all started back when Covid-19 first started. At that time I was off from my job due to a COVID outbreak at work. While sitting at home taking care of everything there, I realized that if I want to further my career at the military base I work at I need to get a degree. I started at Grantham to finish my Associates, from there I have continued my academic career by finishing my Bachelors and Masters. With the classes being at my pace and on my schedule, has made completing my degrees work with my life and career. If University of Arkansas Grantham offered Doctorates, I would continue my academic career to that level. University of Arkansas Grantham has allowed me to join this great academic family. Thank You.Gregory C., MS in Information Technology
My journey towards completing my degree program was both challenging and rewarding. It all began with a strong sense of purpose for my Bachelor of Science in Information Systems with Health Informatics Concentration. As a freshman, everything seemed new and exciting, yet discouraging at the same time. During my sophomore and junior years, I began to delve deeper into my courses. I started to grasp the core concepts and felt more confidence. However, it wasn’t a walk in the park. There were times I felt overwhelmed with thoughts of defiance. As I entered my senior year, I took a moment to embrace my academic journey. Finally, the moment has arrived. Graduation day is a mix of emotions- pride, happiness, and joy.Delicia G., BS in Information Systems - Health Informatics Concentration

I am 45 years old, I am a mother of three crazy young adults. This has been a very emotional journey for me and there have been many times when I wanted to quit and give up. Thankfully, with the help of my kids, I have been able to get to this far. I never finished high school because my parents took me out of school and I didn't even get my GED until I was 30, which I never thought I would do. However, on December 5, 2021, my life changed tremendously, my daughter passed away 5 weeks 2 days. I felt I had lost everything because her death was unexpected. I went through the motions of grieving my daughter's death in which I lost interest in everything until one day my little angel sent me a signaI also told myself that I started this journey with my daughter and that I would finish in honor of her. If anyone would've told me that I'd be graduating with my bachelors of science in computer science in under 4 years I'd never would've believed them.If anyone would've told me that I'd be graduating with my bachelors of science in computer science in under 4 years I'd never would've believed them. I grew up with so many incredible women, who all shared the same story. They missed the opportunity to pursue their dreams due to the lack of resources , knowledge, money and support. I'm not only the first woman to obtain a computer science degree in my family but the only person to attempt it. I'm so grateful for my incredible mother who consistently showed me the importance of hard work and dedication to never gave up. Working full time while pursing my degree , and having to wake up at 4am and head to work at 7am for an eight to sometimes 12 hours shift makes this milestone even more exciting. This accomplishment wasn't just for me but for all the amazing women in the world who's fought for my right to pursue my dreams. I'm incredibly grateful to be representing Liberia as a woman in STEM. This is more than a dream come true and I couldn't have done it without the most amazing and supportive professors and staff here at Grantham . This was a scary journey from the start but the staff at Grantham made sure that my success was their top priority.Beatrice S., BS in Computer Science
In 2001 I started my business degree as a single mom with two little kids. Life happened and I had to put my dream of getting my degree on hold. Fast forward to 2019 I wanted to go back to school and finish what I started. I was in my 40's and I thought I was too old to start over and almost gave up. I talked to an executive at my employer, who was also my mentor, she encouraged me to try anyway. Every time life would get difficult her words always kept me going, she said 'No matter how hard it is never give up, always push through'. Well, that is what I did and now my dream has finally come true. And I can say that I am the first person in my family to get a college degree!Tammy B., BBA in Business Administration

My time at the University of Arkansas, Grantham (UAGrantham) as an active duty military member has been both challenging and rewarding. Balancing rigorous military responsibilities with academic demands required exceptional time management and resilience. This Graduate Certificate in Human Resources is very personal to me. Through the blood, sweat, and tears that I have shed along the way, I made every effort to complete this program. I have many years of experience in information technology and project management, so I thought I should go back to school to document my knowledge. I was quickly reminded about all the time and effort that goes into meeting academic requirements and balancing a full-time job. It took a tremendous amount of self-discipline to stay on track each week. Weirdly, this experience has also helped me at work. Thankfully, I had encouragement from Ms. Michele Chappell! She was my instructor for my second coding class and she was very encouraging! The fourth week of my second semester with UAG, I had several illnesses and an oral surgery which hindered my ability to do anything for an entire week. With the condensed classes, a week's worth of work is A LOT to miss and have to make up. By the time I felt better and was able to get back on track, I was at least 10 assignments behind between the two classes that I had. I reached out to my instructors to ask for an extension which they both granted. This gave me the ability to catch up. It was the hardest thing I'e ever done. Thankfully, I had encouragement from Ms. Michele Chappell! She was my instructor for my second coding class and she was very encouraging!Angela B., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing

From the very beginning, she was dedicated to students with her fast responses and ability to clarify questions about coding as well as assignment instructions. Professor Croly was extremely interactive with her students throughout the entire school year. She added a little fun by giving an optional scavenger hunt. That was my favorite part overall because it allowed us to become familiar with the massive ICD-10 clinical manual while also pointing out important parts or information. Really, she went above and beyond her duties to actually be there for all questions, within 24 hour response, and with as detailed of information as she could have provided.
