I was never able to finished college when I was younger because it was hard being a single mother and working full time without any help. After I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, I was determined to fight and to never give up. I have been cancer free for nearly six years now and always wanted to finish college. I was a mediocre student - at best - in high school. I have never really been a student who simply loves class. I love to learn but not in a structured environment. Some of the hurdles I encountered in this journey centered around my age as a learner. First, I had to orient to becoming a formal learner. It had been over 30 years since my previous experiences learning. The most difficult class for me was calculus. I continually sought ways to relate what was being taught to future applications of it with relationship to engineering practices.
