The Patriot Award is given by the AFWMF to organizations who offer significant support to veterans and their families, provide veterans programs and preserve the memory of fallen warriors in the Kansas City area.
“Grantham University is honored to receive the Patriot Award for our support of veterans and veterans programs in the Kansas City area and the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation organization in its mission to build a memorial to those who gave their life during the war on terror,” said Petroy. “The families of the fallen have made the ultimate sacrifice to our country, and we are proud to educate, honor, support and remember those who serve.”
The American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation is leading the effort to build a local memorial and museum that commemorates America’s Fallen Warriors during the War on Terror, from the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings to the present, by September 2024. The American Fallen Warrior Memorial and Museum will honor those who served, educate the public about the sacrifices made to protect our freedom and serve as a sacred meeting place of hope and remembrance.
“Grantham University has been a remarkable supporter of veterans’ programs and a significant sponsor of the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation project here in Kansas City,” said Rush. “This award recognizes the contributions that they’ve made for such things as the job fairs, hiring veterans programs, veterans education and veteran spouse education, and their direct support to the foundation and its mission.”
