Growth Spurs Grantham University’s Move to Lenexa
Kansas City, Mo.— January 21, 2014 — UA Grantham, an accredited online university serving working adults around the world, announced this week that it will be relocating its main campus to Lenexa, Kan., in spring 2014.
“We have been searching diligently for a space to accommodate our growing employee base in the KC metropolitan area, and Lenexa offers exactly what we need,” said Joseph McGrath, president of UA Grantham. “Because our learning environment is online, students can expect a seamless transition without any interruption as all of our existing support systems will remain in place.”
UA Grantham has called Kansas City, Mo., home since 2005 when it relocated its campus from just outside of New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The University, which employs more than 350 staff on-site in the Northland, offers 100% online undergraduate and graduate degree programs to students world-wide.
“Grantham has selected our state as the best place to grow, invest and create new jobs,” Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George said. “That is great news for Kansans and our economy. We’ll continue to work hard to make our vibrant business environment even better.”
With a population of just over 48,000, Lenexa is located in the KC metropolitan area in Johnson County.
“We are pleased and excited that UA Grantham has chosen Lenexa for its new facility,” said Blake Schreck, president of the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce. “They set the standard for excellence with the distance learning and training they provide, especially to military service members and veterans. We are proud to have them in our community.”
The University was founded in 1951 by Donald Grantham, a World War II veteran, who wanted to help his fellow former service members build a better future for themselves upon returning to civilian life. What started as a traditional “brick and mortar” school specializing in radio electronics is now a leader in online education, serving a global student population. With its interactive online degree learning environment and solid student support structure, UA Grantham remains committed to the educational success of its 17,000 students.
