Currently enrolled in the Associates of Applied Science in Healthcare Administration program at UA Grantham, Sabrina brings a wealth of experience from various roles in healthcare and is eager to move into management. Her story reflects a blend of dedication, strategic planning, and personal growth.
We recently caught up with Sabrina to ask her about her studies at UA Grantham:
What program did you enroll in? Why did you choose it?
Associates of Applied Science in Healthcare Administration. I chose this online degree because I have been in healthcare since 2007 but have never had the opportunity to move into management despite having a bachelor's degree because I didn't have any experience. My current job is growing exponentially, and I see new management positions being developed in the future, so I wanted to be competitive for those positions when it happens. What advice would you give to new UA Grantham students?
I would say that if you are determined to succeed, this program is very doable. I would also say to plan time to get schoolwork in. I worked full time while caring for my disabled husband, and my daughter starting college herself. It can be done. Can you share a positive or memorable experience from your studies?
Making the Dean's List and the Honors List was such a surprise! My grades were much better than when I was a traditional college student. What do you hope to achieve with your degree?
I want to further my current career. I'm the de facto department lead for specialty referrals. I want to be the director when that role is created or move into another administrator role focused on reporting and auditing. I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology as well certified as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and medical assistant (RMA). I am leaving UA Grantham with Certified Health Records Specialist (CEHRS) and American Heart Association CPR certifications. I'm also a wife and mother to a 19-year-old college sophomore. I've been in healthcare since 2007. I've worked as a Medical Records Specialist, Pharmacy Technician, Receptionist, Prior Authorization Specialist, Registered Medical Assistant, and Referral Specialist.Explore our Programs
