Now is the time to celebrate your way! Put on your regalia, gather with family and friends, and toast to the hard work you’ve put in to reach this significant milestone. Take snapshots and send to communications@uagrantham.edu so that we can include them on this page.

At 55 I got another chance to return to college. I attempted many times over 40 years and never finished. I recently was diagnosed with several mental disorders. I knew for years that something was not normal but ignored it. I grew up in an environment that does not acknowledge mental issues. You are labeled crazy, lazy or irresponsible. By me being smart I was misunderstood. No one saw things the way I did and would try to force their ways of living upon me. That made me lash out and that made things even worst. To make a long story short. After being diagnosed with Bipolar I and II, Anxiety and Depression disorder, everything made sense to me. With the proper treatment, I have COMPLETED something major. I AM PROUD OF ME!!!!!!!

Hello, I'm Dominique Dumas. I have three kids and am 35 years old. In 2020, I made the decision to go back to school in order to advance my career. At the time, I wasn't certain of my goals. All I knew was that I had to return to school. to demonstrate to my kids that they can succeed if I can. Managing daily life, working full-time, and being a mother all require full-time commitments, so I knew I was up for the challenge. Nevertheless, I persisted; I maintained my faith and believed that God would see me through it. Four years have passed, and I have no regrets. I'm incredibly grateful that I crossed the finish line.

I am a 55 year old student who is also a retired and disabled US Air Force Veteran AND I work full time. Getting my degree has always been a bucket list and I was going to do it no matter how long it took. There were times that I wanted to quit (like during the Stats class) but I didn't and I pushed through. I am now the first person to graduate college in my family and it feels amazing. For people that say they are too old to go back to school, I feel like I am proof that age is just a number. If you want to do, go do it. It is worth it!!

I decided to enroll in my masters program when my first son was 18 months old. I started my masters in September and found out I was pregnant in December. Talk about a whirlwind! I already worked full time as a manager in healthcare and a part owner in a small business. My boys have been my driving force and my "Why" for completing my degree. I want to give them the best life possible and show them that anything is possible with dedication and hard work! I've love it so much I think there may be a second masters in my future.... not so sure yet! But it's crossed my mind.

I have been working on this degree for almost 8 years and it has changed 3 times from different schools and different degrees. I finally found one that piqued my interest enough to stick through it. I have had several road bumps along this journey from being in a bad situation and not having a home and a lot of people I know didn't think I would complete it. I've came along way, years ago I never would have thought that I would be where I'm at today that's for sure. I've always been good at starting things but never finishing them, so I pushed myself and told myself that I was going to accomplish one thing in life and did. I struggling so much along the way but still managed to make it through. From moving from place to place and my son was involved in a deadly car wreck which 2 kids passed away and 2 kids lived one of the 2 that lived was mine. But he was hospitalized for the last 3 months of my schooling so it was rough but I made it. So no matter what things were placed in my path God helped me get through all of this to make a better way for me and my family to have a better future.

Tammy Anderson is hands down the best advisor and a huge asset to Grantham University. When I first enrolled, I was assigned an advisor that would not help me with the early preparations, and I almost quit before I even started. I requested a new advisor and was gifted with Tammy. I have had so many ridiculous life events occur and have been on the verge of complete frustration more times than I would like to admit. Professor Ray Fullard is a retired Marine and understands the military life and what we have to go through to get things done. Though I am retired too, I still work for the military and work some long hours and would get frequent migraines which came on when I was in the military. He understood. At some point, I was sitting on a couch at my last job. I said to myself that it was over, and sitting on a couch making less than minimum wage was where my life decided to change. I just so happened to turn on the TV, and there was an ad for Grantham. I decided that I would at least give it a shot and see what happens. Now I am waiting on my diploma to arrive, and I have no idea what I am going to start working on next. Grantham helped me get going again.

I lost my mom at the age of 19 and left with taking care of my sister who was 13. We are now 25 and 18, now, and my sister has pushed me to do better for her and for myself.
