Congratulations Graduates!

Congratulations Winter 2025 Graduates

Dear Graduates,

On behalf of the administration, staff, and faculty of UA Grantham, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you. The credential you earned this year is a truly significant milestone in your life’s journey.

It takes dedication, perseverance, and sacrifice to reach this point. And so, your certificate or diploma is more than a piece of paper. It represents countless hours of study, difficult assignments overcome, and a commitment to your future. You have invested in yourselves, and that mindset will always yield powerful returns.

Many of you chose to pursue higher education for deeply personal and compelling reasons, and you now realize those goals: your degree is a key that unlocks new doors, providing you with a competitive advantage in your career and expanding your potential for professional growth and leadership.

In many cases, your achievement set a precedent. One of our graduates, echoing the words of so many of you, said “to be the first in my entire family from parents to my sibling to my own children to graduate college is a wonderful feeling”. And you are showing the way: “I wanted to set the example for my children that if I could achieve this, they can too”. In doing so, you have become an inspiration to your children, siblings, and community.

We know your journey was neither traditional nor easy. For those who doubted you, and perhaps for the doubts you overcame within yourselves, this is your victory. “All the ‘educational figures’ I had growing up told me I would never be nothing. I wanted to prove to them I am worth it, and I will make it” was one of the most poignant testimonials we received this year. We hope that your takeaway is a firm belief in yourself: You took on a challenge, and you saw it through.

We are equally in awe when you share with us stories of the people that encouraged you along the way: “My daughter reminded me that my efforts set an example of perseverance”; “My wife believed in me even when I doubted myself”; “They believed in me and that made me believe even more in myself”; “My husband pushed me when I thought I had nothing else to give”. And so we add our thanks to all those that supported you in your journey.

As you turn the page and step into your next chapter, we invite you to stay in touch with us through our social media channels. And we encourage you to spread the word about your experience at UA Grantham: It is now your turn to be the one giving the gentle nudge, the push, that frank feedback someone needs to hear.

Finally, I ask that you use the knowledge and character you built as a force for good in the world. Lead with integrity, serve your communities with compassion, and always strive for excellence in everything you do.

We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2025. Go out there and make your mark!

With great admiration,

Lindsay Bridgeman

Sara Phillips

Student Service
Sara Phillips

I have worked in higher education for almost 10 years and at UAG for 4.5 years. I have a master's degree in Social work from the University of Tennessee, where I developed my passion for working in higher education. My favorite part about working with our students is supporting them as they work to achieve their goals. I love seeing students succeed and being a part of their journey as they experience wins and work to overcome obstacles.

“Sara has helped tremendously with my journey into the college life. Sara has made me feel welcome, and more relaxed about the thirty year gap in my education. I couldn’t think of a person more deserving of this award.” - Curtis S., Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management Technology

“I appreciate that my student advisor, Sara Phillips NEVER gave up on me. Due to working weird hours at time and just having a crazy schedule, she continued to cheer me on even though I literally missed pretty much every call she ever made to me. Even though the calls were missed, the support was felt!” - Sarah J., Bachelor of Science in Information Systems
