Being a mother and a military spouse isn’t easy work. Pushing through school and everyday life was difficult, and to make it this far makes me feel I can do more things that I can set my mind too.Brenda F., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Completing my bachelor’s degree as a single mother in the military was not an easy journey, but my daughter gave me the strength to keep going. Even while deployed on rotation overseas, being away from her was another hard sacrifices I had to make. On the toughest days, I reminded myself that I was doing this for her, to show her the power of resilience, determination, and never giving up. This degree is dedicated to my daughter Amayah M. my greatest motivation, and to my grandparents, who recently passed just four hours apart after 69 beautiful years of marriage. Their love, strength, and legacy inspired me to finish strong!!Nadine C., BBA in Business Administration - General Management Concentration
Completing my degree as a stay-at-home mom hasn’t always been easy, but it has been worth it. There were moments I felt overwhelmed trying to balance school, family, and everyday responsibilities, but I kept reminding myself why I started. I wanted to build a better future for my family and prove to myself that I could do this. With perseverance, late nights, and encouragement from Anna Walters, who always believed in me and pushed me to keep going, I made it to the finish line! This journey has shown me that resilience and determination truly pay off. I will be continuing my education with the same determination!Brooke S., AAS in Healthcare Administration
Completing my degree at UA Grantham demanded perseverance and resilience. Balancing school, family, and life especially during my senior year was challenging, but I stayed focused on my goal. Even in moments of doubt, I pushed forward one step at a time. My wife played a major role in my success, taking on extra household and childcare duties so I could focus on my final classes. Her support and encouragement made all the difference. My children also motivated me to set a strong example. This journey strengthened my discipline, patience, and confidence, proving that persistence truly pays off.Muhammad K., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
Completing my degree has been a test of perseverance and faith. Balancing school, family, and life’s challenges often felt overwhelming, but I refused to quit. I prayed for strength, trusted God’s plan, and took each assignment one step at a time. The encouragement from my instructors reminded me I was capable, even when I doubted myself. This journey strengthened my faith, resilience, and confidence. Earning this degree proves that with God, determination, and persistence, no obstacle is too great.Shaneka H., AA in Criminal Justice
Completing my degree has been a true test of resilience. I faced moments when life felt overwhelming, balancing responsibilities, setbacks, and exhaustion, but I refused to give up. I kept reminding myself why I started and pushed forward one step at a time. What helped me most was the support of someone who believed in me and our goals for 2026, even when I doubted myself. Their encouragement and steady advice kept me grounded. Reaching this milestone isn’t just about earning a degree; it's about proving to myself that perseverance can carry you through anything.Natasha P., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
Completing my degree has been one of the most meaningful accomplishments of my life. As a nurse working two jobs, I balanced long shifts, emotional patient care, and unpredictable schedules while continuing my education. Many nights were spent studying after exhausting days, pushing through fatigue and self-doubt. With limited support at times, I learned to rely on my own resilience. Caring for six energetic fur babies added to the chaos, but also joy. This journey strengthened my discipline, confidence, and determination, and prepared me to grow and lead in healthcare.Kim F., BBA in Business Administration - General Management Concentration

This experience showed me that persistence and self belief can lead to real success.Dornis W., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
I agree that completing this degree was a great achievement. It required dedication, perseverance, and resilience. One of the biggest challenges is studying at an advanced age; I finished at 62. Health problems and lack of rest made the journey more difficult. However, I overcame the obstacles to reach this goal, first with God's help and then with the support of my wife, my children, and my older brother, along with my professors and my student advisor. For that, I owe you all a huge debt of gratitude! For those who are thinking about completing or even starting your academic career, I ask you to see my example and believe that you can achieve the same results only if you dare to give it a chance and accept the challenge.Jorge M., MBA in Business Administration
I can't believe I have finally made it to the end. I have been fighting for my degree for 5 years; through many obstacles I made it. I started this program at first with an empty mind. Just a kid realizing this is the real world I'm going to college getting to work with the grown adults and have peers that I could learn from. I realized I'm now one of them. My mom, dad, sister and brother all helped my through this time I got to learn new things and turn to them when I was stressing over lessons and needing to get a understanding of things. They are my motivation they are the reason I am here today and Strive to be better than I am now and in future days. I'm coming back and to take my bachelors and hope to have continued success. Thanks again for this amazing opportunity. Love to be a student at UA Grantham.Mateo J., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I took steps towards my dream. I knew when I was 8, two things that I wanted in life were being in the healthcare field and no kids. I have now actually achieved my dream from when I was 8. I am now 34 and am finally getting into the career I have been wanting for so long. This was well worth the step to help get me close to finishing my dream. I went part-time at a local bank so I could focus on school and actually take the steps to get here. There is a financially strain I have been feeling but this is totally worth the sacrifice. I am very proud of myself for making my own dream finally come true.Victoria W., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
I was determined to get my degree nothing was going to stop me.Norrin R., AS in Computer Science
I was just a simple parent of five, volunteering my time at the Salvation Army. Then my kids became grown and moved out to start their own lives and I felt like I was alone, not knowing what to do with my life. I started falling into a stage of depression, anxiety, and isolation which led me to be at home watching tv not wanted to go anywhere or do anything. Then I found myself watching a lot of the crime and emergency help shows like Cops, 9-1-1, The Good Doctor, etc., and I realize there are so many people in the world who get mixed up in the criminal system because they don't understand how the laws, rules, and the system work. So I decided i wanted to help those people. I am grateful and proud to be graduating!Bambi L., AA in Criminal Justice
I would personally like to thank each and every staff member that I met along the way that helped me to get enrolled in each class, and that inspired me along the way. I would like to send out a special thank you out to Jaclyn Hansen.Odell S., MBA in Business Administration

This degree represents a journey marked by sacrifice, love, and perseverance. As a single mother, I worked full time while pursuing my education and caring for my father until his passing. There were moments when life forced me to pause my studies, but I never let go of my dream. I carried it through grief, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Every step forward was fueled by the desire to create a better future and to honor my father’s strength. This degree is deeply personal, and it has strengthened my calling to serve others as I continue toward a bachelor’s degree in social work.Katrina R., AA in Business Administration and Management
This degree took me longer than plan and that’s okay. Life was lifing: active-duty, deployments, kids, marriage, leadership, and PCS moves. It was never a straight line. But it stopped being a box to check and became something I needed to finish. I love leadership and constantly strive to grow, and this program sharpened how I think and lead. It wasn’t just academic, it stretched me personally and professionally. Not fast, but fully earned.Noelle D., MS in Leadership
This is a course I didn't know a lot about, but was something I have a great interest in. I love the curriculum, the study material, including the YouTube videos. The best part was my peers' and the instructor's interaction. This was a challenging course, but I learned so much. I love how we challenged, encourged and supported each other's ideas.Angela M., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant
This journey was not a straight path. I gave up and changed the finish line more times than I can count, but something within me, and my faith in God, would not let me quit. I needed to finish this for myself. Through every setback, God carried me, strengthened me, and reminded me that it was not too late. My children watched me work tirelessly, and now they get to celebrate this moment with me. This degree represents faith, resilience, and redemption. If my story reaches even one person who feels behind or discouraged, I hope it reminds them that it is never too late to rise, believe again, and finish, because now my sons have seen what perseverance looks like, and they will never unsee it.Alexandria P., AA in Business Administration and Management

I'm a student who takes my education seriously but sometimes life has a way creating hurdles. When the Physics II course ended, I entered the Incomplete period with two weeks to finish my late assignments. That window should have been straightforward and I would have completed the aforementioned assignments within 24 hours, but a series of technical failures with Blackboard Ultra turned it into a nightmare. The course simply wouldn't appear in my portal. I couldn't access lectures, assignments or any of the materials I needed to complete my work. After multiple interventions from I.T, the course finally reappeared, only to disappear from my portal in the middle of a quiz during an active countdown timer. I wasn't dealing with poor time management or a lack of effort. I was dealing with a platform that was actively working against me. Throughout all of this, Professor Daniel Hale never wavered. He didn't treat my situation as someone else's problem. He didn't shrug and say it was an IT issue. He took ownership of the situation alongside me and went directly to the administration to make sure I had a fair chance to demonstrate what I'd learned. He even worked on my situation on a Sunday, when he should have been spending time with his family and not distracted with a student's Blackboard issue. I could tell the university was pressing him to finalize his grades and close the book on the semester. That's a real pressure, and most instructors would have understandably complied. Professor Hale didn't. He pushed back, respectfully, professionally, but firmly, on my behalf. The result of his advocacy speaks for itself. The Faculty Manager responded directly, stating that I had been granted an additional 48 hours to complete my assignments and thanking Professor Hale for advocating on my behalf. That acknowledgment from administration isn't just a formality. It confirms that Professor Hale went beyond what was expected of him to ensure a student wasn't penalized for circumstances entirely outside that student's control. Thanks to Professor Hale's efforts, I completed my assignments, earned an A in Physics II, and kept my 4.0 GPA intact. What separates a good instructor from an exceptional one is what they do when it's inconvenient. It's easy to teach well during normal class operations. It's something else entirely to spend your own time and professional capital fighting for a student after the course has ended. Professor Hale did exactly that, and he did it without hesitation.Kyle Z., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology

He made the material easy to understand, and the course was engaging and enjoyable from start to finish.Angelica R., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration

As a retired Veteran, It has been a long journey. A lot of wars under my belt and mentors who taught me about leadership early in my career, I did not stop with my goals of learning to be a leader. Give it volunteerism at our local food kitchens, Wounded Warrior alumni, Team Red White and Blue org, and most importantly the help in my recovery from the Veterans Administration and in-residence/out patient program; I am thankful that at the ripe age of 60 (upon graduation), I learned that there is value in leading the next generation of leaders. Not done yet but I will move this leadership banner to my next generation of Combat Veterans.Jorge H., MS in Leadership
Balancing full‑time work, family responsibilities, and coursework tested my limits, but I stayed focused by setting small goals, keeping a strict schedule, and asking for help when I needed it. When setbacks came—failed exams, late nights, and self‑doubt—I reminded myself why I started. My daughter's steady encouragement and a mentor’s simple advice— “finish what you start, one step at a time”—kept me moving forward. Graduating feels like proof that persistence pays off.Brandy B., MS in Information Technology
Before I enrolled with UA Grantham, I had several hesitations. One of them being my age and going back to school but through the support of family members and the staff at UA Grantham I was able to achieve my certification and am leaning towards after graduation and getting my certification and furthering my education with UA Grantham.Mona R., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
Completing my Associate Degree in Medical Billing and Coding at age 50 is one of the proudest accomplishments of my life. This journey required discipline, perseverance, and lots of timely sacrifice as I attempted to balance school with my personal and professional responsibilities. I experienced many life-challenging moments, including selling and buying a house, a work accident, followed by knee surgery, and months later, lumbar surgery. Paired with the academic challenges, I was ready to quit. I continued to push through the setbacks and remind myself why I started. Earning this degree while maintaining a 4.0 GPA represents how strong I am and will continue to be in life. Thank you to everyone who helped me conquer this!Tabitha H., AAS - Medical Coding and Billing
Completing my degree at UA Grantham required perseverance through busy work schedules, family responsibilities, and moments of self‑doubt, but I refused to give up because I knew my goals were worth fighting for. Completing my degree has been a journey of perseverance and purpose. I’m a full-time industrial controls technician, a mom of three—including a foster child—and I balance work, kids’ sports, household responsibilities, and a new health and fitness journey. Through exhaustion, doubt, and challenges, I kept pushing forward. I will be the first in my immediate family to earn a bachelor’s degree, and I hope my journey shows my children that persistence and belief in yourself can make anything possible.Amber B., BS in Computer Science
Completing my degree is one of the proudest moments of my life because the journey was not easy. I faced personal challenges, setbacks, and moments where I doubted myself and my ability to continue. Finishing my degree has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. There were moments when balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities felt overwhelming, but I kept reminding myself why I started. What pushed me through was something my mentor once told me: “Progress is still progress, even on the days it feels small.” Holding onto that mindset helped me stay steady through setbacks and keep moving forward. Standing here now, at the finish line, I’m proud of the resilience I built along the way and grateful for the people who believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself.Shydrea J., AA in Business Administration and Management
I believe those four words do describe my whole journey. Dedication, hard-work, perseverance, and resilience are all required to push through this journey. Being full-time employed, part-time student, and being a dad really takes a toll on me mentally. I was fortunate to not break mentally and kept at it until the end. Thank you to all my friends and family that supported me all the way through.Jeffrey L., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
In 2021, at 20, I began my healthcare career as a CNA, full of optimism but unprepared for what life had ahead. Everything changed when my thirteen-year-old sister was hospitalized with aggressive epilepsy. Watching her fight to relearn how to eat, speak, & walk reshaped my understanding of caregiving. My mom & I became her primary caregivers, navigating medications, fear, & exhaustion together. While working FT nights as a PCT, I realized bedside care long-term wasn’t sustainable. Switching to PRN gave me space to heal & pivot. Now studying Medical Coding & Billing, I’ve found a way to stay in healthcare while building a healthier future — for myself & my family.Alayjah S., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
It has been 30 years this year since I graduated from High School. I have never thought about getting my MBA and never thought I ever needed a degree. This year I will be earning my MBA in Project Management and my son will be graduating from High School. I hope I have set a great example in earning my MBA that will motivate him to pursue his degree to become a PA. This journey has been long but worth the time and effort I have put into it.Jarel L., MBA in Business Administration - Project Management

My journey at UA Grantham began 11 years ago when I first started my Bachelors in Business degree. I took a healthy break from classes and then got back on track recently to finish my degree. Christina McBroom one of the student advisors was a huge help in my success and I wish her nothing but the best!Dakota E., BBA in Business Administration - Financial Planning Concentration
My time here at Grantham has been truly amazing. I always wanted to complete my degree, but was afraid I would never reach this milestone due to COVID back in 2019-2020, which caused me to take a break from pursuing my education. I came in as a transfer student from the University of Central Arkansas, which was tough because I didn’t know that some of my credits wouldn’t transfer but I still decided to make the decision to go here. And by making that decision look at me now, graduating like I’ve always wanted to! Although the courses here were online and extremely challenging to complete in 8 weeks at a time, I never gave up I pushed myself to keep going even when I didn’t feel like it. And for that I’m proud of myself.A’Dajia W., BS in Cybersecurity
Not long after I started college my daughter had a brain shunt malfunction and had to have her shunt replaced in her brain. She had several different brain surgeries from April though January of the next year. The last surgery landed us in the hospital ICU for a week. May of the same year my mom was told she was terminal and came to live with me fulltime. She passed away the day before Thanksgiving. During these times it was a real struggle to get my work completed but I did it. I was a full time student, I had a full time job and had two kids under ten at home, along with taking care of my Mom. My teachers and student advisor was very helpful and understanding during that time. It was a challenge but I DID IT!!Lorrie M., AAS in Healthcare Administration
Obtaining a graduate degree is not easy, nor simple...for anyone at any age! However, juggling adult responsibilities such as family, a full-time job, maintaining social connections, and personal responsibilities along with completing this program adds an extra element of stress and sacrifice...not only for the student, but for the entire family. Everyone is impacted by a family member going back to school. I am grateful for every single person that has poured into me, encouraged me, supported me, cried with me, been frustrated with me, and listened to me. While it is my name that will appear on the diploma, I will display it proudly to honor everyone that has taken this journey with me!Kayla C., MHA in Healthcare Administration
Since I've started my degree program, I've had 2 kids, competed in 20 triathlon events (including 7 half-ironman distances and 1 full ironman distance race), while also working a demanding full-time corporate job. Managing all of that takes discipline and if I can do all of this while getting a degree, anyone can.Jeremy D., BBA in Business Administration
Thank you Lord.LaShonda W., AAS in Healthcare Administration
They say the third time’s the charm, and I’ve certainly lived up to that. I first began this journey back in 1997, but it didn’t work out. I tried again in 2014, only to step away after a year and a half. Picking myself up after that setback was incredibly difficult, but I found the strength to try once more — and I’m so glad I did. Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel. Life has thrown more than a few storms my way, yet I’ve managed to push through each one. Hard work and determination carried me forward, even when it meant putting family and friends on hold. Now, I finally get to make it up to them. I’m deeply grateful to UA Grantham for supporting me, believing in me, and helping me reach this long-awaited milestone.Molly B., AA in Paralegal Studies
This journey has taken me over 20 years. As a mother, spouse, full-time employee, and member of the military, I often had to take just one class at a time. That flexibility made it possible for me to continue my education and ultimately complete my bachelor’s degree. Grantham University made this achievable by allowing students to take one course or several, depending on their life demands. Thank you, Grantham!Mandi Y., BBA in Business Administration - Marketing Concentration
This was a high milestone for me I started working on this Degree back in 2021 after just giving birth to my son! I was a military spouse a new mom always putting my family first over my needs. Since then, I have been through so much trial and error, I went through a divorce and moved back home to Dallas as a single mother. But my son became my WHY and my drive to make sure he always has everything he needs has been keeping me going. I am so blessed to have completed this with great support from my student advisor Mrs. Tammy Anderson that has walked me through every step of the way !D'Shauna F., AA in Business Administration and Management
When I began this journey 4 years ago I was unsure if I would ever see a degree and then I achieved my associate degree. That achievement pushed me to go for my bachelor’s degree. Life did not show me any mercy during this time as I lost my home to a house fire and almost lost my oldest child, going through a divorce, homelessness again due to asking for a divorce from ex husband and car accident. However, I never let any of those things stop me. Instead I told myself that once I obtain my degree I can have a good job to support myself and children to get them better things in this life. I will leave you with this note, life happens it’s important to never let it stop you from achieving the things you want happen.Heather B., BA in Criminal Justice
With the help of my supportive wife and the motivational boost of a son, I have reached an eighteen-year goal. The day after I submit my final grade, my wife and I anticipate welcoming our second child. My family is my biggest motivation, and I dedicate my degree to them. I want to thank all the professors that have supported me along the way and all the resources Grantham has in place to ensure their students’ success. For those students who are struggling with balancing life, family, work, and school, keep going, keep your eye on the goal, and believe that it can be done!James C., BBA in Business Administration - Financial Planning Concentration
Wow just thinking about this moment brings tears to my eyes! God knows I been through a lot of adversity with family friends’ job and school, as well. While attend the school I got the chance to meet outstanding people and got the chance to hear their story and it push me to keep going even when I didn’t want to keep going. I’m just grateful that I had amazing staff here at the school to motivate me even when I couldn’t motivate myself. Just the positive feedback the teachers and staff gave me change the outlook of my everyday life. So, thank you all for all y’all help for getting me here this far.Kerzel W., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration

Sarah Steger has been my student advisor during my Associate Degree path. There are not enough words to say how wonderful she is. She has always been in my corner cheering me on the whole time. Anytime I had questions she always responded right away. I am thinking about changing majors when I continue on to get my Bachelors and was advised that if I chose a different major she would no longer be my advisor. I was heartbroken. She has really made a difference in my life. Thank you Sarah for always being there for me and always cheering me on. You are an amazing adviser!Lorrie M., AAS in Healthcare Administration

I nominate Professor Coleen Poitinger. She always went above and beyond with extra assignment material, thorough discussion responses weekly, and she never hesitated to provide timely answers to emails. Professor Poitinger clearly wants to see her students succeed. Thankfully, she went through the extra steps to provide current information, which aligned with the UAG curriculum, in an effort to help us students further understand the ever-changing world of medical billing and coding. I reached out to her in October to make her aware that I would be having lumbar surgery, and she was very accommodating through the whole process and even went the extra mile to inquire how my recovery was going. She not only wants to see her students succeed, but she also cares about them. I am so thankful that our paths were allowed to cross during my studies at UAGrantham.Tabitha H., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing

Student Stories
At 46, I went back to school. After starting two master’s programs that never quite fit, I finally found one that did. This Master’s in Leadership connected directly to my real-life work in finance at a medical school, making everything I learned immediately applicable. In my next-to-last class, I suffered a stroke after a routine surgery. Thanks to an incredibly supportive instructor, I was able to keep going despite the setback. I did all of this while raising two teenage boys and juggling life with three dogs. This degree is proof that it’s never too late to finish what you start—especially when it finally feels right.Shelby W., MS in Leadership
Balancing full-time and part-time jobs while being a full-time mom, I pursued my degree with determination. Exhaustion was constant, but I turned lunch breaks into study sessions, late nights into writing time, and early mornings into quiet focus. Juggling work, motherhood, and academics taught me discipline, resilience, and perseverance. Graduation wasn’t just a personal achievement—it symbolized sacrifice, strength, and the promise of a better future for my daughter. My journey proved that with courage and commitment, even the toughest challenges can be overcome.Tijuana W., BA in Criminal Justice
Before Grantham I had previously attempted college three times. Feeling kicked down, I felt that I would never obtain any way to enter the profession of my dreams. None of the colleges I attended in those times however offered as flexible and straightforward courses as they were here. My advisor was always there and willing to work with me through any circumstances. Grantham gave me the confidence to continue forward and not give up on my future.Steven M., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
Being a first generation college graduate means everything I achieved was built without a roadmap. I balanced work, family, and life’s unexpected challenges while often doubting whether I truly belonged in higher education. There were many moments I wanted to quit, especially when exhaustion or fear set in. What kept me going was remembering why I started and the encouragement of those who believed in me, especially my family, who never stopped reminding me that I was capable even when I struggled to see it myself. This degree is more than a diploma. It is proof that perseverance, resilience, and faith in yourself can change the course of a generation.Sunnie D., MBA in Business Administration
Being a full time career/student/father always has many challenges. Trying to balance work/school/kids can bring on lots of challenges to continue going to school. It took me longer than I wanted, but I kept pushing with my wife's support always telling me to just keep going. I took some breaks off from college when I really needed it to focus on family but my wife and family always guided my back to get it finished. I thank them all the time for pushing me to finish and get to the end.Jared B., AS in Computer Science
Completing my degree required perseverance through real challenges. I worked full time while recovering from two back surgeries and raising four children. I volunteer year-round as a youth sports coach in baseball, football, and wrestling, and I also serve as an assistant varsity football coach. At home, my family and I manage a small hobby farm with chickens, pigs, and a few steer. Balancing work, recovery, family, service, and academics took discipline and resilience, but the effort was worth it. I am proud of this accomplishment and grateful for the support of my family.Jarrod H., BS in Engineering Management Technology
Completing my degree was not just an academic achievement; it was a personal victory marked by perseverance and resilience. My journey included challenges that tested my focus and motivation, as I balanced rigorous coursework with personal responsibilities. Despite the overwhelming pressure and moments of self-doubt, I remained committed to my goal. I improved my time management skills, sought academic support, and held myself accountable. Each setback motivated me to work harder. My belief in the importance of education and determination to finish what I started carried me through. Earning my degree represents not only academic success but also personal growth and the ability to turn obstacles into accomplishments.Druezilla A., BS in Health Information Management
Completing my degree was one of the hardest and most meaningful things I’ve ever done. I pushed through two high-risk pregnancies that left me hospitalized, while working full time for the Oklahoma Army National Guard and raising my family. I started this journey during COVID and endured three newborn stages, a move, a government shutdown, and times when my children were sick or hospitalized. Many nights I studied exhausted and alone while my husband worked night shift, caring for our children and supporting me however he could. There were moments I wanted to quit, but my children were my why. This degree represents resilience, sacrifice, and choosing not to give up.Amber H., BBA in Business Administration - Human Resource Management Concentration
Completing this degree was a test of persistence as much as academic ability. Balancing a demanding healthcare career, personal responsibilities, and coursework required focus, adaptability, and steady determination. There were moments when the pace felt exhausting, but I learned to move forward by taking challenges one step at a time and staying committed to the larger goal. What carried me through was the reminder that progress does not have to be perfect to be meaningful. Support and encouragement from others, along with that mindset, helped me stay motivated during difficult stretches. Reaching this milestone reflects resilience, consistency, and a willingness to push through adversity to achieve long-term goals.Charliene R., MHA in Healthcare Administration
Despite adversity and obstacles along the way, I remained determined and resilient, balancing life and work while pursuing my academic goals, and I am now preparing to graduate and look forward to new career paths and opportunities. Along with the possibility of continuing to earn my Bachelors Degree. I loved this online school and will be forever thankful for all that helped me along this journey!!Emerald E., AA in Business Administration and Management
Dr. Megan Patton-Carter unknowingly gave me the encouragement to continue to strive to maintain my 4.0 GPA. On days that I had a lot of things to do or personal problems, her encouraging words helped me to get through my assignments.Tammy H., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Earning my degree is more than a personal achievement it represents the legacy my family built before me. I was inspired by the path my mom and sister conquered years ago, showing me what perseverance truly looks like. I am most proud to have my father’s name on my degree, honoring the sacrifices he made when he set aside his own education to provide for our family. This milestone fuels my drive to keep pushing forward. The journey continues, and the next road is my Master’s.Thomas M., BBA in Business Administration - General Management Concentration
Finally completing my degree has been one of the most meaningful achievements of my life. It has all been about dedication, believing in myself, and pushing forward through tough times. I struggled with managing my time and I missed deadlines along the way; I often worried about falling behind, but I learned to take one step at a time, hold myself accountable, and to celebrate all my small achievements. Without having family support, I often felt alone. But with the encouragement from my instructors, they fueled my motivation and kept me focused Graduating from UAG has proven my passion, determination, and strength in myself and in this program. It is a personal victory that I will forever be proud of. Thank you UAG!Erica C., AA in Business Administration and Management
I am a non-traditional student trying to get my life together so that I can provide for my son and myself and give him a life that's stress free. I am the primary parent to my son and I work 50+ hours a week- so adding school to our busy lives was hard, but it was worth it. I am showing my son that if it's something you really want, go after it! There will always be hard times, there will always be ups and downs in our lifetime, but it's all about how we make it out of those hard times and down moments. I am grateful for UA Grantham and how it is for students like me. You guys, along with my advisor and scholarship director showed me that there are people who believe in us and genuinely want to see us succeed!Rosetta L., AAS in Healthcare Administration

I first attended college back in 2004 and failed. I was not in the right headspace for school. Now, 20 years later, I am attempting again. UA Grantham was a great choice. I was afraid I would fail again, but the courses were informative and gave some room to make errors but learn from them. I am so happy I chose this program. The instructors didn't expect you to be the smartest, but pushed you to accomplish what you set out to do. I am forever grateful.LaDonna T., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing

I struggled with the decision to go forward with my associate degree, but there were a few people who gave me the encouragement to do that and made me realize that I can do anything that I really set my mind to. my family has been a big part of that, and I thank them from the bottom of my heart, and both my student advisors that I have had from the start, Alec Tillery and Jacyln Hansen -- without them, I don't know what I would have done. Any time I needed them, no matter what it was, they were both there to help me through, even if it was just encouragement when I was about ready to give up. I was always told "I GOT THIS," and it definitely helped me go forward. I thank both of u from the bottom of my heart.Brenda S., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing

I'm a STNA currently and had some medical issues come up that will affect me being a STNA, so I decided to go back to college, and I decided on medical billing and coding because I was very interested in this field. For me pushing through challenges was always going back to readings or spending extra time on it to complete it. As for someone who pushed me to succeed is my husband Rian, as well as someone I look at as a mother to me Lisa, without both of them I wouldn't be able to push myself as hard as I have.Brittnay J., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
I've come a long way since I started my education journey. I've been on rock bottom and looking back, I feel truly blessed. I'm not proud of where I once was, but when I made the decision to rise from the ashes, it was the first time someone truly believed in me. My husband has been my biggest fan and has coached me through everything from adversity to discouragement. He's seen me at my worst yet still sees my potential. One thing that make me feel better when I feel like my wheels are spinning or that I haven't come very far, is to look back to my worst times. Also make small goals to avoid being overwhelmed.Kelly V., MS in Information Technology
My advisor was a great choice for me; she was kind and helpful and not eager to leave work early, if you catch my meaning. As for me, I eliminated all distractions and prioritized my schoolwork. Thank you in advance for this opportunity!James M., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
My journey was not easy in the slightest bit. For starters, I had no experience or knowledge of the medical field, so everything was new and confusing. I experienced devastating health incidents which required every ounce of perseverance and resilience I had. I never gave up! I reached out to my instructors and Student Advisor and created a game plan. I researched, studied, practiced, persevered and here we are, I am graduating from my Certified Medical Billing and Coding courses. It has been an unforgettable experience, and I am more than proud of myself and my classmates.Toni G., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing

Jennifer DeVincenzi was my student advisor and I was blessed to have her. She cares about her students and never hesitates to reach out each week, not only professionally, but as a human being. As a medically retired U.S. Army veteran, continuing my education became both a challenge and a promise I made to myself. Balancing health concerns, family responsibilities, and long nights of study required patience and resilience. What kept me moving forward was the belief that growth is always possible, and that my service did not end when I left the military. My family reminded me that every class completed was a step toward a better future. Their encouragement, along with my commitment to finish what I started, carried me to graduation.Onaolapo A., MS in Information Technology
As a nurse since 2000, I have always wanted to go back to school to continue my education and in 2023 after surviving a serious dog attack I was blessed with the opportunity to fulfill that dream at the University of Arkansas Grantham. My recovery was long and attending UAG while going through rehabilitation and healing gave me something positive to focus on while recovering. Investing this time in my education and future has been a positive experience and I am looking forward to returning to the workforce in the medical billing and coding field to pay it forward and be a positive light in my patients' life in every way that I can. I am grateful to the staff and my family for their support along the way.Rachel H., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing

As an active-duty soldier, father of five, and foster parent to many more, balancing family, service, and graduate studies has been a true test of resilience. Coming from a home where neither parent finished school, I grew up believing college wasn’t for me. But I pushed forward to become the role model my children deserve. Remembering my “why” and relying on resilience training kept me moving, even on the hardest days. My kids’ belief in me and my desire to break generational barriers drove me to succeed.Jason R., MBA in Business Administration

Earning my Certificate in Medical Billing and Coding has been a journey of perseverance and faith. As a young single mom battling rheumatoid arthritis and unable to walk for four years, there were times I wanted to give up. But I refused to let my challenges define me. My child became my greatest motivation, and the support of my student advisor Mr. Richard Chesney, reminded me that strength comes from persistence. Each assignment and exam was a step forward—proof that resilience can turn pain into purpose and dreams into reality.Dominique T., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing

I first started my degree in 2014, but by 2015 I had to stop because of financial challenges. For years, going back felt impossible, but in July 2025, I returned determined to finish what I started. Now, as I graduate with my associate degree in Criminal Justice, I’ve proven to myself that I can overcome anything. This journey wasn’t just for me, it was for my children, to show them that no matter how hard life gets, you never give up on your goals.Ashley W., AA in Criminal Justice
I started my degree in December 2022 while caring for my mom during her battle with cancer. Even though she was bedridden, she constantly encouraged me to keep going and made me promise to graduate. I buried her on the last day of my first term, and that promise became my driving force. After her passing, my husband and I faced unstable housing and toxic environments that left us without food, medication, or support. Despite everything, we took a leap and moved to Virginia, where we finally found a safe, healthy place to rebuild. There were many moments I wanted to give up, but I kept thinking of my mom’s strength and the promise I made. My honest advice: keep going, even when it’s hard.Amanda E., AA in Criminal Justice

Working a full time job, being a single mom , and helping friends when they need me , but I always found time to get my studies in. My journey to earning my Associate’s Degree in Business Administration has been anything but easy. In the past year alone, my car engine went out twice, my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia, and both she and I battled Covid, forcing me to withdraw from two classes and take them later. I also welcomed two new grandchildren during this time. Through it all, I stayed focused, pushed through every obstacle, and reminded myself why I started. This degree represents my strength, my faith, and my family.Amanda F., AA in Business Administration and Management
My master’s degree in leadership was born of a storm. My brother died, and I fell ill, in addition to my other mood disorders, at precisely the same time as I worked full-time through the courses. But I didn’t stop showing up, module by blurry-eyed module, leaning on a resilience that I wasn’t aware had been in me. I found my Instructors to be a source of comfort, courage, patience, flexibility, and enlightened advice, just when I needed it. Their empathy made it easier to remember my brother and maintain my vision for the future. I went on to earn my degree, and perseverance turned me from sorrowful to successful.John S., MS in Leadership
On graduation day, holding that degree wont be just about a piece of paper. It will be what success feels like knowing that no obstacle, seen or unseen, is stronger than my refusal to quit.
