Retention and Graduation Rates

University of Arkansas Grantham prepares data for retention and graduation rates annually for the U.S. Department of Education (ED) through IPEDS. These information is published by the ED on the College Navigator and College Scorecard websites, and available to students and family members here: Student Right to Know.

It is important to recognize that the IPEDS graduation rate calculations are based solely on traditional college students, first-time, full-time undergraduate students – leaving out non-traditional students with prior college attendance, those who are taking classes part-time, and those enrolled in graduate level programs. Because of this, less than 1 in 10 of University of Arkansas Grantham’s students are counted in the IPEDS graduation rates, and therefore not representative of our students.

University of Arkansas Grantham also prepares annual graduation rates, for our university accreditor, DEAC. Graduation rates prepared for DEAC follow specific guidelines, and include all students enrolled in a program, and represent the percentage of students completing within one and a half times the program length – meaning 3 years for an associate or master program and 6 years for a bachelor program. The last reported DEAC graduation rates by credential can be found here:

University Retention Rate

Keeping in line with best practice, University of Arkansas Grantham prepares a fall to fall retention rate for DEAC, published in the DEAC Student Achievement Disclosure.
Because University of Arkansas Grantham’s flexible enrollment allows students to enroll continuously throughout the year, we also calculate annual retention rates based on a full 12-month cycle. The annual retention rate for students enrolling in 2019 is 38% for undergraduate students, and 62% for graduate level students. These data represent all students newly enrolled 2019 who remained enrolled in 2020 or completed the program.
Graduate Employment Rates

While University of Arkansas Grantham does not calculate employment rates, we do maintain contact with our alumni post-graduation. In the first and third year after graduation, students are prompted with a survey, providing ample time for employment and promotion, and the assessment of the value of a University of Arkansas Grantham education. Students are asked to share perceptions of the impact their studies had on their employment including factors of employment/military promotion, new job opportunities, and higher wages, in addition to improved core professional competencies to support career success. These statistics are used in strategic planning and institutional effectiveness activities, and are published in the DEAC Student Outcomes Disclosure. For more information regarding the types of employment obtained by graduates, please email institutionalresearch@grantham.edu.
